Energizing the Altai Mountains peoples through innovative climate mitigation
Goal: involvement of indigenous marginalized youth groups into community-based tourism (CBT) development, use of solar energy in high-mountain and remote areas for preservation of nomadic mountain cultures as climate change mitigation measures and adaptation to its effects by local communities in the Altai Mountains of Russia. Objectives: 1. Development of training course of distance Internet and en situ classroom education for professions “guides of tourism” (as well “alternative energy”, “climate change in mountains”). 2. Practical approbation of courses by 2 trainings (30interns), 3. Conducting of 2 workshops on climate change and alternative energy use. 4. Supply of trained guides’ tourist bases with solar panels for electricity in high-mountain areas of Altai.

Abstract : Kandersteg International Scout Centre organises every year hiking trips for young people focusing on ecology and sustainable mountaineering practices.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
The primary goal of Kandersteg International Scout Centre’s guided hiking programs are to provide safe and educational 1 or 2 day hiking trips around the Swiss Alps to Scouts from around the world. We aim to not only to get Scouts out and explore the majestic trails the mountains have to offer, but at the same time, educate them on local ecology and ethically sound practices through Leave No Trace (LNT) principles.
